Arizona Auto Insurance Minimums: Are They Enough?

October 6, 2026 | Auto Insurance

Arizona law requires every registered vehicle to carry liability insurance. Meeting the minimum keeps you legal, but it may not keep you protected after a serious accident.

What the Arizona minimums are

Arizona’s minimum liability limits are often written as 25/50/15:

  • $25,000 for bodily injury to one person
  • $50,000 for bodily injury to all people in one accident
  • $15,000 for property damage

Why the minimum often falls short

Medical bills and vehicle repairs add up fast. A multi-car accident or one involving a newer vehicle can easily exceed $15,000 in property damage alone. If the costs go beyond your limits, you could be personally responsible for the difference.

Coverage worth considering

  • Higher liability limits to protect your savings and home
  • Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage in case the other driver cannot pay
  • Collision and comprehensive to repair or replace your own car
  • Medical payments for you and your passengers
